For 40 years, Germans lived in two very different systems - and not just politically. When it comes to sexuality, marriage and family, the GDR is much more open about the intimate lives of its citizens than its neighbors in the West. And the GDR also sees itself as progressive when it comes to "gender equality," because the dictatorship always wants to be one step ahead of the class enemy. In the West, on the other hand, the erotic industry has been booming since the 1970s, which in turn is considered a "decadent outgrowth of capitalism" in the East. In "Love, Lust and Passion - Sexuality in Divided Germany," contemporary witnesses from East and West have their say and talk about how Germany lived and loved during the Cold War.
