— Grimme Prize nominated —
Every day a man in Germany tries to kill his partner or ex-partner, every third day he succeeds. Every third day a femicide happens. A femicide is the murder of a woman because of her gender. Almost every femicide is preceded by domestic violence. In 2019, there were 117 femicides, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office.
In the documentary "“Femizid – wenn Männer Frauen töten", the women behind the statistics have their say. Women who have themselves experienced physical, psychological, economic and structural violence and women who have experienced femicides in their immediate environment. How can women in Germany be protected from violence and death? What can society do? And what responsibility do the judiciary and the state bear?
