Blümlein hilft
Ralf Blümlein is a street worker. For more than 20 years, he has been caring for more than 900 people daily at the Tafel in Bingen and Ingelheim. Due to the Corona crisis, both Tafel have now closed. For different reasons: Due to hoarding, there is almost no food left that could go to the Tafel, the volunteers are mostly elderly people who are considered risk patients and the customers themselves often have pre-existing conditions.
But Blümlein wants to continue despite Corona. How? We join him on this journey. Because for the street worker there is no Corona emergency plan. He is thinking about buying a van and driving it to the needy himself, he is planning talks with large supermarkets to see how the Tafel can still get food despite hoarding, and he is trying to teach the homeless Corona prevention, who according to Blümlein often sleep crowded together in sleeping bags.
